The Easter Bunny once again made his annual visit to Midwest and greeted youngsters of all ages with treats and photo ops. Although the weather was un-seasonally cool with morning rain, enthusiastic visitors were treated to a full tour of the roundhouse and rail yard and presented with our past history as well as a look at where we are headed.
MOTHERS DAY, MAY 7th
After the morning rain stopped, the weather cleared nicely and although the yard was wet the open house and tours went on as scheduled. The attendance was somewhat less than anticipated, but those attending had a great time.
CLEVELAND HISTORY DAYS, June 26th and July 2nd
The two open houses held in conjunction with Cleveland History Days were well attended. Kit Whipple, author, entrepreneur and Cleveland Historian gave a presentation on both days and MRPS Historian Mike Kole presented visitors with photos and explanations about the history of the roundhouse and facilities. Visitors on the 26th were treated to a short train ride while visitors on the 2nd had the opportunity to see a fully operational Stanley Steamer that was driven to the event and on display for most of the afternoon.
